Botany shares Father John Misty collab

Botany photographed by Patrick Elting

  • Botany a.k.a Spencer Stephenson releases debut album Lava Diviner (Truestory) via Western Vinyl.
  • Scraps Father John Misty collab from album, but lucky for us releases it on the internet!
  • Speaking on about his working with Father John Misty, Spencer said:

"I produced the track using a lot of Brit-folk samples as I was a huge Fleet Foxes fan trying to bridge the gap between that style and my own for the sake of the collaboration. It didn't fit into the overall scheme of Lava Diviner, but I didn't want it to rot on my computer, so I remixed it and set it free."

  • For more insight about the concept behind Lava Diviner (Truestory), check out his Q+A with Dazed & Confused here and stream "Laughtrack" along with the album in its entirety.

tune in: White Poppy

pc: Georgia Love

White Poppy, the solo project of British Columbian Crystal Dorval, will release her debut self-titled full-length LP  September 3rd on Not Not Fun.

The record is a gorgeous, experimental exploration of washed out psychedelic melodies, fuzzy guitars and floating vocals imbued with the warmest of tones and blurry harmonies. Initially recorded onto a four-track cassette, the album was a work in progress for over a year, but the end result was well worth the wait.

Following the album's release, White Poppy will embark on a West coast tour starting this fall, with all dates below.

"Party at the NSA" YACHT

PAY WHAT YOU WANT DOWNLOAD - http://partyatthensa.com/

YACHT is donating 100% of the sales of their new song, "Party at the NSA" to fight against the unwarranted surveillance and wiretapping of U.S. citizens by the NSA. Download the song directly from http://partyatthensa.com for a pay-what-you-want donation and YACHT will give 100% of the money to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a nonprofit leading the fight against the NSA's illegal mass surveillance program.

"Party at the NSA," a joyous send-up of the security agency, is a team effort. Comedian Marc Maron, a strong advocate of digital rights who has extensively advocated against Patent Trolls, plays the guitar solo on the song. YACHT and Maron share a strong belief that the Internet should be a free space for ideas. "We live much of our lives online; we should be outraged by the extent of the NSA's domestic spying programs," the band says. "Instead, we are sinking into a dangerous indifference. Insidious forces are at work. Help us reverse the entropy."

YACHT believes in a free and open Internet, in transparency, and in collaboration. Please spread the word about "Party at the NSA;" together, we can help the Electronic Frontier Foundation work to protect us from the encroaching surveillance state.
